Want a fun way to combine encoding and decoding? Need a way to practice special vowel sounds like r-controlled vowels? This is the perfect way to marry decoding and encoding in a fun activity. This winter set has 20 cards of picture-to-word match. It comes with two sizes and in both black and white and full-color. Students are given the CVC word and they are asked to match the picture to the word. This set also comes with a recording sheet. Words have same beginnings and endings, to ensure students will read through the whole word but focus on the r-controlled vowel.

a – bark, barn, card, cart, chart, farm, harp, March, park, shark, star, yard, yarn
e – fern, germ, her, perch
i – bird, chirp, dirt, girl, shirt, stir, third
o – cord, cork, fork, horn, north, shorts, storm, torn
u – curb, curl, curve, fur, nurse, purse
