Description
Do you students need practice stretching and blending through words to decode unknown words? Do you need an independent activity to practice stretch and blend? AND it’s self-checking! This strategy is based in research and aligns to the Science of Reading.
Procedure:
- Students will put their finger on the starting dot.
- While sliding their finger across the arrow they will make each letter sound as they get to the dot under the letter.
- Repeat the sounds sliding one sound into the other, creating the cvc word.
- When they are done, they flip the card to check.
There are 136 cards with cvc words in ink-saving B&W format. The cards cover all short vowels.
- 32 short a words
- 24 short e words
- 32 short I words
- 24 short o words
- 24 short u words
There is also an anchor chart (8 1/2 x 11), a smaller interactive notebook chart (4 on a page), and a label for storage.
